Szinergia Business Vocational School has accomplished 23, 4 and 6 week long students mobilites and 5, 1 week long teacher mobilities in the 2014/2015 project year within the Erasmus+ programme with the cooperation of 5 partners.
Our primary aim was to provide opportunity for application for all professions in the school, which we have successfully put into effect. Thanks to the Erasmus campaign, the number of both student and teacher applications have increased significantly, which shows the growing popularity of the mobility programme.
Out of the 5 partners we have worked with the dutch Deltion College, the swedish Ekebygymnasiet and the german Vitalis in previous mobility projects, while the english Tellus Group and the portuguese Mobility Friends came as new partners as we would like to increase the number of partners each year.
The applicants took part in a multi-round selection period and in a linguistic, cultural and personal-training. As a result the 24 beneficiaries were selected.
Besides the students mobilities we also organized teacher mobilities to the five partner countries. The teachers applied by handing in a Hungarian and and English/German CV and attaching a cover letter. Professional dedication, quality of work and language skills dominated when selecting the participant teachers for the programme. Our colleagues took part in one week long professional programmes which were adjusted to their vocational field. School and company visits, language course, professional and cultural programmes were organised for them.
The 28 day long mobilities took place in 2015 march-april, while the longer 42 day long ones in june-july without major difficulties. Students spent their working and free days in Zwolle, Uppsala, Plymouth, Leipzig and Barcelos. Among the work practice places were hotels, restaurants, a secondary school, travel agency, accountant office, retailer and well-equipped fitness centre.
During the apprenticeship students got to know the host country’s work culture, developed their professional and language skills hence they became more self-confident as they proved they can cope in a foreign working environment. Both the partner institutions and the companies providing the apprenticeship confirmed that the beneficiaries completed quality, prezise work and they proved to be reliable, fast learners and enthusiastic.
Our colleagues have also realized the change of these students, as they say Erasmus students tend to perfom better in the school, take part more actively in extracurricular activities such as organizing the freshman party or the sports day. We also have information about previous Erasmus students that they work somewhere abroad.
Both teachers and students gave presentations on their professional and cultural experience at the beginning of the school year, and with by filling in a questionnaire they reported what competences they feel were developed and what advices they have for improving the programme.
As a recognition of the foreign apprenticeship participants received their Europass mobility certificates which we happily and proudly handed over to them.
