In parallel with technological improvements in textile sector, Turkey is a country whose level of development is increasing day by day. As the investment made in textile sector increases, this sector in growing and opportunities of employment are raising in parallel with it. According to data from Turkish Exporters Assembly(TİM), 5.6% of our exports made in the last 12 months is on Textile and Raw Materials and 11.6% of it is Ready Clothing and Confection. The need for qualified intermediate staff in this giant sector which has a large volume in the domestic market is increasing. İş-kur (Turkish Employment Organization) has stated that the most wanted staff was textile machine operators last year . The most important reason of this situation is insufficient vocational training in textile field. For example, the fact that weaving machines are improving continuously in parallel with the technology and expensive has caused unavailability of these machines in vocational education institutions; for that reason, vocational high school students taking only theoretical education cannot be employed. However, because weaving machines have multiple automation functions and so are expensive devices, staff using these machines should be qualified. It is agreed in the meeting held with branch teachers in our school that there is a considerable lack of practice by using weaving machines in a city which is the heart of textile, Bursa, and carrying out a project in such field shall compensate for our students’ vocational deficiency in this field and they will be employed thanks to it .
Unemployment rate in 2013 approached to 10% with a 0.5% rise. It is foreseen that this increase shall keep on in 2014. The region where İnegöl Anatolian Vocational High School for Girls is located has sufficient industrial conditions in order to employ the students. The only thing to be done is to provide education that will help our students be qualified personnel. The primary aim of our school is to employ our students. Our Project is an internship activity which consists of 4 flows, which is held in accordance with the necessity mentioned above.
There is a powerful management team which consists of volunteer teachers in order that our project can be carried out successfully. This team has planned educational activities, organization scheme ad logistic activities, and established partnership with Gisi's Nahatailer institution in Germany, Sidinos Intimo and CAC Taxtil institution in Portugal and Confstar SA institution in Romania, which are technologically developed and have positive references. In our project management methodology, sharing duty and cooperation are based on. Therefore, activities and people responsible for them are determined, which keeps the sustainability of issues such as planning, practice, monitoring, evaluation, following the progress and dissemination.
32 female students from 11th and 12th grades in Clothing and Production Technology Department in INEGOL Technical and Vocational High School of Girls shall benefit from our project which will last for 3 weeks. Gisi's Nahatailer, Sidinos İntimo, CAC Taxtil and Confstar SA companions shall accompany our participants and contribute to protect our project’s quality. In addition, 8 disadvantaged students will benefit from our project.
At the end of our project to be carried out between 1 October and 30 January 2014, free language course and chance to practice shall help the participants to improve their language skills considerably. The participants shall have high-level training about weaving machine operatorship and be qualified. The participants shall become self-confident, entrepreneur, modest individuals by the help of this educational experience. Certifying their gains considerably increases participants’ being employed. Long-term effects shall continue as well as these expected results mentioned above. Namely, our school which will establish a sustainable partnership with European institutions shall go beyond the educational line which it provides as standard, and obtain the gains of a high-level educational activity in professional and managerial means.
