Media plays an important role for the consolidation of stereotypes and for discriminating actions. In the exchange project "Doing Media", adolescents from Serbia and Germany use the media to fight against discrimination. On the base of examples from the two countries, they work on a shared understanding of the social function of media and examine cases of discrimination. There will be 25 adolescents of the age of 14 to 18 years and from each country, Serbia and Germany, participating in the project. Serbian-german Teams of two teamers will design and lead the media workshops. The project consists of two parts: 2014 - summer camp in Serbia, 2015 - animation film-studio in Germany. First part of the project: During a summer camp of ten days, the adolescents learn in a practical and creative way how contents are formed and arranged in media. They react to media reports and express their own answer by using the instruments of the workshops. Second part of the project: In four parallel workshops of ten days, the adolescents work on four animation films against discrimination and learn techniques of animation film production. In preparation for the workshops, several meetings will take place: inspection of the summer camp area in Serbia, meeting of the teamers for workshop conceptional design, introductory session for the adolescents in each country. Accompanying, a web blog will be serviced as a platform for the adolescents to express their opinions and can create a sub public view. After each of the two parts of the project, the process and results are collected on a DVD with booklet which will be spread. The experiences and designed concepts are to be accessible for the public and for other project as a useful tool.
