The Phd students placement in enterprise could be one of the way by which Europe could achieve the objectives regarding innovation, economic development and sustainable progress (EUA, 2007; UK Grad Programme, 2008; ERA, 2008). This project aims at enhancing the employability of Phd students in technical-scientific fields, through development, testing and exploitation of:• training modules for the improvement of transversal skills, useful to develop the profile of a new industrial researcher able to innovate “inside the enterprise” or “by setting up his/her own businesses”;• models for the integration and coordination of several services currently fragmented in TTOs/KTOs and University Career Centres, in order to allow career and information services to fit better with the specific needs of students of the third cycleThe main results of the project will be:• a European survey on existing training paths for Phd students and services offered in the university to support their employability • a training framework based on transversal competences• advice services models for the development of the scientific career in enterprises• a final handbook for the use of training paths and services models designed and tested in the European universities partnersAll products will be available in English, Italian and Spanish to ensure the widest dissemination.In 2005, some 100,000 doctoral degrees were awarded in EU-27 compared to 53,000 in the U.S. and 15,000 in Japan. Investing in this field has an impact on a huge number of final beneficiaries and on the whole system of relations between universities and enterprises. In the dissemination and exploitation phases the project foreseen the involvement of some of the most representative European associations and network which count almost 1,000 members (universities, TT centres, association of enterprises)
