PROJET
TERMINÉ
The project "Heading for Cork to discover new quality and tastes of Irish cuisine" consists in 2-week internships of 20 students of ZSZiOiPPP w Morągu, future cooks and hospitality managers (groups II TG and III TWh, who will be 17 and 18 next year). The cooks will most likely not pass entry exams for the mobility projects coordinated by the poviat's authorities (the trend our school has been observing for some years now). As far as the hospitality management group is concerned, no recruitment process is currently under way on the poviat level, and the students are left with local hotels of low occupancy rates and somewhat inefficient traineeships, hence the need to reinforce these particular groups with internships conducted abroad. The project addresses the priorities of the poviat, the voivodship, the whole country (preventing unemployment, social exclusion, upgrading the VET sector, boosting the cooperation between educational institutions and companies, developing new schemes of internships) and of the EU (free flow of workers on the job market, increasing professional and interpersonal competencies of young people to help them find jobs on the European market faster and minimise the number of NEETs). The objectives set by ZSZiOiPPP w Morągu for its students: 1. principal objectives: - learning about national cuisines and foreign tourist infrastructures, - learning about the way Irish restaurants and hotels work, - gaining practical knowledge, 2. specific objectives: - gaining experience (participating in European mobility of young VET students), having a good professional start, - obtaining certificates of international professional experience (Europass Mobility), obtaining valuable documents for job applications, - equalising the opportunities of rural youth and students at risk of unemployment, - becoming familiarised with the idea of professional mobility and some requirements of the European job market, - verifying the skills acquired at school in real-life working conditions, - establishing international contacts, - doing better in external exams thanks to the project's results, extra preparation of the participants for their examination of vocational qualifications, - improving the use of English, including ESP, - promoting the idea of life-long learning, becoming aware of the need to learn foreign languages, more independent planning of one's educational path, - enhancing abilities of adaptation, feeling a real part of the EU, - preparing for adult, professional life, - stimulating personal growth. II. The objectives set by ZSZiOiPPP w Morągu for itself: 1. 1. increased competitiveness, greater prestige and attractiveness (of vocational training at large), 2. increased student enrolment, 3. greater participation in the dual system, incorporating good practices, promoting close ties between the school and the working world, 4. gaining valuable experience while implementing the school's second independent project, establishing international contacts and developing a scheme of international traineeships. Results: the future frame of mind of our participants: - more respect for their teachers and school, - improved self-esteem and assertiveness, - greater motivation for learning, bigger ambitions, - strengthened team spirit, - broadened worldview, respect for mental and cultural diversity, - improved interpersonal skills, - entrepreneurship, initiative, active approach, involvement, - autonomy, resourcefulness, self-organisation, - assuming responsibility for entrusted tasks and property, - higher level of personal culture, greater emotional maturity, - noticing the relationship between learning and the school's work with the future profession, - managing stress in difficult situations, - eliminating the fear of working abroad and having to communicate in English. Activities: the traineeships will take place in the restaurants and hotels of Mallow and Cork and they will be focused on gaining knowledge about Irish cuisine and the specificities of Ireland's hospitality management. The working hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 or 6:00 p.m. and the language used will be English. The receiving organisation offers to cover some topics pertaining to the occupational health and safety and culture of Ireland (lectures and presentations on the history and social life of Ireland), two rounds of evaluation, monitoring of host families and two tests of English. It also offers a very interesting cultural programme: walks around Mallow, one evening with live Irish music, sports activities and two attractive one-day trips: to Killarney and Kinsale.
