DIVO: Digital Voices
Date du début: 1 mai 2012,

Portable and online technologies such as smart phones, mobile phones, tablet computers and other hand held devices offer new opportunities for young people to communicate with each other. It enables them to tell their own stories in their own way and to communicate with each other directly and immediately. But what are the possibilities for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds or cultural 'cold spots' to tell their own stories via these media? What are the issues of access and affordability to these forms of technology? DIVO: Digital Voices is a research and outcome oriented project between three partners; Blast Theory (UK), Patching Zone (Netherlands) and Translocal (Finland) that will investigate methods for young people to have increased access and engagement with mobile and location based technologies. Through workshops, seminars and project development young people from 'cold spots' will work together to tell their stories to each other and the world. DIVO: Digital Voices will enable young people to communicate about their lives across language and cultural barriers. Besides workshops and seminars, DIVO: Digital Voices will produce a prototype online game that explores the issues that young people face and enables to share them in an online environment without borders. This project expands the potential for these leading digital media organisations to engage with new audiences from diverse backgrounds. It is an opportunity for learning across an established generation of digital practitioners and the new voices that are emerging through a generation connected by social media and portable technologies.
