The educational mission of a primary school includes all children regardless of their origin , nationality, sex, religion or familiar background. As the first school young children attend the primary school is responsible to pave the ground for basic education and has a high impact on a positive development of the young students. Teaching in this first years allows the young students a systemic and situation based approach to learning. Here they acquire basic skills. Primary schools support children with heterogeneous experiences , requirements and interests in the development of their individual competence of learning and the development of their personality.This is done with the support of trust into the own abilities, initiative, autonomy and creativity.For this consortia application 7 primary schools have worked together and have developed and chosen the suggested training and job-shadowing activities. They will be coordinated by the Senate Administration - the major school authority in Berlin. A large number of these primary schools has „welcome classes“ for refugee children. They change after an appropriate time into the standard classes. Here a very complex set of competences in teaching is needed. With the selected activities the participants gain a sensitiveness concerning the topic of diversity and enrich their set of competences in all aspects.Additionally they learn about new methodological approaches and can professionalize their teaching. Via the collaboration within the project network and a professional exchange on national level in Berlin the transfer of competences and knowledge can support other schools, the parents and networks working in and with primary schools.New insights and methods will be tested in the schools, they will be discussed and the outcomes will be used in a structured way to support e.g. the implementation of a culture of diversity within school profiles.
