EVS project, Disability – the world worth of volunteering! Discover and make a difference in the world of disabled people in Foundation for the Differently Abled will be implemented by the Foundation in Gdansk for 11 months, starting from 5th October 2015. Project participants are the volunteers from the following countries: Germany, Italy, Romania and Ukraine. Because we are working with adults with intellectual disabilities and we recognize the special importance of the art therapy we describe the major topics of the project as a disability and the arts and culture. Volunteers will participate in various activities – from cooking workshops, occupational therapy, sports, music, painting, handmade paper and ceramics workshops. They will also pursue the unique workshops for our participants and the local community. We also set ourselves the educational and social goals. We want young people to undertake the several stages of social oriented, well organized and effective non-formal education under our guidance that will pay off in their further personal, professional and civil life. The immediate goal is to gain invaluable support in the daily work of the foundation with the introduction of new ideas and creative solutions from volunteers that would make a social life of people with disabilities less ordinary. The project also fits into the intercultural and European profile of our business. From the perspective of the volunteers important will be learning through practice, gaining experience in the third sector, becoming familiar with disabled people, as well as European integration and intercultural dialogue. The final result should be a new experience and developement. The development of knowledge, skills, self-awareness of all EVS project participants and multi-level development of organization itself.
