According to the national education directore’s research results (2008–2009 NED statistics results) school drop out and grade retention in secondary education in Turkey is quitly at high
Level.
According to the statistics, %11,3 of the students in secondary education left the school.
Preventing the rate of school drop out is the main goal of our school.
For this reason, It is the thing which we need ,is to share/exchange experience in international plathform.
Because the school drop out is not only the matter of Turkey but also the matter of Europe.
Young generation who are interbedded with technology are going to be consumer community.Like ready made food and clothes, ready information can easily consumed.
We aim to grow up productive,critical thinking students keen on technology.
Our starting point;
In our school we are implementing Comenius Project for 2013-2015.We see the positive effect of the Project on the students such as gaining self confidence, improving ICT skills,Communication skills
As Project club we think that we can contribute the solution of increasing drop-outs in our school by integrating the ICT skills,Digital storytelling into education.
Students can share their digital stories with their friends,families and teachers and also upload their digital stories to the school website, twinspace as a international website.
Beside this, the usage of the DST in classroom can increase the motivation of the risk group students to the lessons.
To reach our goal , four chosen teachers are planned to take the training course on school drop outs and DST.
We chose the first training course for because to gain awareness of the shool drop out problem and create the solution on the school drop-outs
Second course is related to DST.This training course will make the teachers gain the qualification on DST.
The teachers who will take two trainings will be responsibe for giving the same education both to teachers and students.
Methodology of the Project are workshop,presentations and questionnaire.
Main activities
-the specification of the students having the risk of drop-outs
-the training of the teachers abroad
-giving the education to the teachers both on school drop-out at the school and DST
-giving the education to the students on DST
-preparing DST on education and presentation
The effects of the planned project on the students;
-with the active participation of the students motivation and interests to the lessons will be increased
-Thanks to the interests to the school the rate of the school drop-outs will decrease
-gaining self confidence
- they will use ICT skills for useful purpose
-communication between school and students will inrease
-They will feel the happiness while producing DST.
-their motivation will affect their academic success.
-Learner based environment.
