The development plan of Saku Gymnasium (2014-2016) focuses on exploiting ICT more in the process of learning. It has been decided to modernise computer network at school as well as establish the post of school educational technologist and rent tablet computers. In order to make maximum use of these changes, we recognise an immediate necessity to educate our teachers. As we have quite a few teachers who are not willing enough to attend out-of school computer courses, we need staff more competent in this field. We are eager to promote students' creativity in the process of learning and adopt new ideas and approaches to teaching strategies. In recent years our school has not participated in major international projects. We do hope to change this situation by establishing personal links with colleagues from other European countries. Hopefully we will enhance international collaboration and become acquainted with cultures and history of other European countries. The aim of the project at our school is to educate teachers in different fields, bring their experience to school and share it with other colleagues. Our development plan for the coming years involves better use of ICT, innovation in the teaching process and stimulating students’ creativity. The choice of participants has been made on the basis of applications submitted. Not only our school but also other schools in the local municipality would benefit from the teacher training courses chosen. All three teachers, active and eagerly interested in innovative approaches to teaching, will explore a different topic important for the development of school. All teachers selected – the school development manager, the head of the study board and the head of class teachers’ board – will provide feedback on the learning outcomes, share their experience, knowledge and skills with colleagues at our school as well as at other schools within the territory of the local municipality. The course participants will establish personal contacts with colleagues from other European countries and enhance school collaboration. This may lead to the launch of different international projects (e.g. eTwinning). This kind of project work gives teachers a valuable experience and students a great chance to display their language skills outside the classroom environment. First and foremost, this kind of teacher training experience will help to build teachers’ confidence. They will start trying out new teaching approaches, methods and activities, including digital activities, on different learners. Exploiting ICT helps to enliven the classroom and design better meaningful lessons, which will engage students in the learning process more. Also, all the other teachers at school will have the opportunity to rely an colleagues who have taken part in the courses. Besides, participating in such courses enables to foster and promote teachers’ lifelong learning, taking part in international courses and European educational programmes.
