Die UnvergEssbare Stadt gestalten
Date du début: 1 janv. 2015, Date de fin: 31 juil. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Transition Town Witzenhausen is an initiative founded in 2009, and at the same time a major project to transform the town of Witzenhausen in a sustainable, post-fossil fuel future as part of the worldwide Transition Town movement. Witzenhausen is a very special small town in northern Hesse with a Faculty of Ecological Agricultural Sciences, a tradition of fruit-growing (especially cherries) that attracts a variety of alternative actors and initiatives. In this setting, we initiate different actions and sub-projects: UnvergEssbar is a longterm participatory project that creates beautiful, diverse and edible landscapes, increases biodiversity in and around Witzenhausen and helps that people can supply themselves almost all year with regional and healthy fruit, berries and vegetables regardless of his / her social and financial circumstances. It includes a multi-generational garden, a show garden, Planter with edible plants in public space, a Food Coop in founding, public actions such as pressing apple juice on the market place, learning ancient culture techniques such as pressing with hand presses and much more. The volunteer will grow edible plants, harvested in, maintain, process the harvest and collect seeds at different (public) places in Witzenhausen. A project house in downtown is used all year by us and is designed with multifunctional office, meeting place, (Repair-) café, information desk, Food Coop, screen printing workshop and woodworking workshop. The volunteers can design and implement projects independently (and with our help) , assist in the repair of equipment and bicycles, design the website, flyers, posters etc., sort photos, create documentation about our activities, take part in different meetings and much more. The volunteer should/can learn how to initiate group processes and how to work in networks, how food sovereignty can arise, how the global crises such as climate change and peak oil can be met with local activities and sustainable use of resources and what basic work and structures are necessary to do so. Campaigning and education work are further tasks of this project. These include the participation and design courses at the European degrowth trainers network "GROWL-Living degrowth", to training events in the local context, in cooperation with schools and others, as well as the influence on local political issues that we place in a global context. The organization of events, including exhibitions, film screenings, workshops and interactive workshop formats are included in this work.
