Against the setting of a United Europe we want to enable our students to act independently on a linguistic and social level. It is our aim to pass on the idea of a United Europe and the intercultural skills linked to it by offering them a variety of projects and cooperation with European schools and other institutions. For this purpose the teaching staff of Goethe-Schule needs to acquire skills in the field of project management and knowledge of the various intercultural characteristics. Attending the course “Intercultural Project Management”, our colleagues will learn how to initiate cooperation with European schools and other institutions and how to implement projects on a long-term basis. Moreover, the experiences gained from working together with international participants from different countries will once more fill our colleagues with enthusiasm for the idea of an intercultural Europe. Later, this motivation will become visible not only for the students, as far as contents and methods are concerned, but also for the remaining teaching staff at Goethe-Schule. To coordinate the project within our school, we will set up a team “Erasmus +”, which initially will consist of the four teachers taking part in the training course. These colleagues, coming from various fields and teaching different subjects, are highly interested in cooperation with European schools and other institutions, are open-minded towards other cultures and are provided with foreign language skills. Training courses will be attended in different host countries so that the spectrum of knowledge, experiences and possible contacts during the seminar will be as broad as possible. After the training course the participants will pass on their newly acquired knowledge to their colleagues. Their aim is to use new contacts to initiate e. g. exchange programs or other European projects and to assist and advise their colleagues. This will lead to an increase in motivation at Goethe-Schule concerning intercultural learning and cooperation. Newly developed projects will be implemented in the school’s European curriculum and have a positive impact on our educational work. Furthermore, programs on a long-term basis, offering the chance to meet people of other countries and cultures, will not only provide our students with knowledge, but will allow them to experience varieties of Europe very closely. As a consequence, particular national characteristics will be considered from a different point of view and mutual understanding will develop. Thus, our students will acquire skills which are essential on the national and international labour market.
