The project “Dialogue among Religions, Tolerance and Inclusion” aims at raising awareness regarding the importance of the inter-religious dialogue and the development of the culture of tolerance in our Continent. This initiative might be seen as a sort of exhortation – overall addressed to the new generations - to shape Europe into a space of encounter and peaceful coexistence, respect, dialogue and mutual understanding. Mobility within Europe and migrations towards Europe have always resulted in the meeting of differing worldviews, religious beliefs as well as notions of human coexistence. This meeting of differing religious beliefs can lead to greater mutual understanding and enrichment. About that, two good examples are the contribution of the Islamic and Jewish civilisations to the European culture and the arrival - 500 years ago - of escaping Jewish people in Turkey and Morocco. Unfortunately, religions could also result in a strengthening of trends towards separatism and encourage fundamentalism that in many cases lead to tensions among communities and wars between countries. Numerous dramatic examples are just before our eyes these days.What really makes the difference between these two ways? Which are the crucial factors (cultural, social, ethnical, geographical, political, ect.) featuring the relations among believers of different religions?Here beneath some relevant questions linked to those previous points: - what, in real fact, influences the perception of the others and their diversity?- what determine the way to share a common space?- How is it possible to manage and reduce conflicts arising from religious and cultural diversity?- What is necessary to do in order to create a common peaceful living space allowing people of different beliefs and cultures to grow together and respecting each other?- Because of the straight relation between Identity and Religious belonging, is it possible to think to religions as a tool of regulation of social conflicts?Of course, it is a hard matter to answer appropriately to those complex questions… they are definitely to big for just a Seminar, but thanks to a common reflection and counting on different points of view, experiences and backgrounds we can reasonably try to understand better:- which is the role that new generations could play in promoting dialogue and mutual understanding among religious communities sharing the same space/living in the same contexts- which educational tools it could be possible (and suitable) to use dealing with children since their early age in order to make grow and spread the culture of peace (let’s think to a new educational pattern)- consequently, how to motivate young people to play an educational multiplying role that could power up a process of inclusion in their respective communities- what is concretely possible to do in order to allow the new generations to go beyond the identity hatred and culture clash that in many cases is hidden behind the religious belonging- how to develop a “culture of tolerance“ that brings to accept “the others” and their different points of view. Which are the potentialities and limits (if any) of this acceptanceGENERAL OBJECTIVES: - To rise awareness about the need of religious tolerance as an indispensable element of the European construction’s process and citizenship- To reflect on religious stereotypes and prejudices in Europe and the management of cultural differences as a prevention of misunderstanding, tensions, conflicts- To reflect on the weak and strength points of Educational Systems in Europe and, in case it is necessary, to rethink/reshape them giving a relevant role to key concepts like, intercultural and inter-religious learning, inclusion, active participations, dialogues, diversity (openness towards….)- To clarify essential notions like Religion, (multi) Confession, Sect, Belief, Identity, Values, Tolerance and Religious Tolerance, Mediation, etc.- Exchange of good practices: to put in common experiences, ideas, projects, social and educational initiatives focused on the improvement of the relations among religious communities- Educational Process and Non Formal Education: reflection of new methods to approach religious issues- To know more about multiconfessional European countries and their Constitutions and peculiar juridical aspects- Reflections on the role of new generations regarding the raising of awareness, knowledge and tolerance among religious communities.
