The Special Education Needs Diagnostic and Support Centre of Thessaloniki (SENDSC) is a public body of the Ministry of Education with the primary role of evaluation, diagnosis and support of pupils-students with special educational needs (SEN).
At the same time offers information, counselling and support to all those who involved in pupils education, as for example: teachers, parents, and other public and private entities.
The purpose of the proposed project after taking into account ( I ) the needs of the users of our services( students , parents , teachers) , ( II ) the new scientific data and the incredibly large influx of new knowledge ( theoretical , practical and technological ) and information ( III ) the targeting of the educational policy in creating accession school structures and everyday issues that arise, which require special management (conflict management), (IV) the enactment of new laws ,with revisions or supplement, (V)the social changes which lead to the creation of complex learning communities where new dynamics are developed, receiving several times uncontrolled dimensions (the increase of school bullying ) , combined with the currents difficult economic conditions.
Continuous training and empowerment of staff of the service is highly required to respond to its hard work. In order to meet the above mentioned objectives, the following education and training programs, and activities of teaching and observing (job shadowing), were selected.
1. Conflict mediation, (In Dialogoue)
2. Ιnclucive teaching and training, (In Dialogoue)
3. Special Needs - Children (ICT International)
4. Problem Based Learning-a practical guide (ICT International)
5. Approaching multicultural issues in education (ICT International)
6.Energy Psychology in the classroom to reduce early school leaving, (Cervantes Training)
7.European Project Planning under Erasmus +, (Cervantes Training),
8. Teaching, observation, in Lithuanian School,
9. Observation, teaching, study at the 1st SENDSC of Thessaloniki where representatives of the Vilniaus Balsiu pagrindine mokykla will come in Thessaloniki, (job shadowing), to learn about the functioning of SENDSC, the role, purpose, legislation, assessment tools, support process of the students, teachers and parents. Also a visit will be planned within representative educational settings, where pupils with special educational needs educated (SLVET), special schools, mainstream schools with inclusive classes .... etc.
Through the participation, the staff in total ( I) will come in contact with new knowledge and information concerning student-centered methods and innovative assessment and support tools that will be required to transpose and implement when necessary ( II )will improve their social skills on cooperation , communication and compliance with the rules of the service , ( III ) will accept the view that effective communication is based on wellbeing , understanding and avoiding conflicts and become better observers and listeners , (IV) will improve their language skills and the skills of IT and social networks , (V) will be strengthened professionally and personally and will be able to manage complex situations resulting in upgrading the administrative and scientific work of the organization.
Completing each activity the diffusion of acquired knowledge and experience will be attempt in a variety of ways, through the printed and electronic press , with posts on the page of the service, with the participation in conferences and seminars and by implementing of European projects ERASMUS +.
Finally, we assume that successful participation in this project is significant in order to satisfy the necessary conditions of quality assurance as defined by the international standards, ISO.
