The aim of this preliminary project is to develop secondary basic forestry education betweenNorth-West Russia and Lapland. The project involves the setting up of a developmentprogramme, which includes a survey of the aims and development needs of basic forestry andthe introduction and strengthening of a cooperation network between forestry business actors,educational organisations and authorities. The action model will be implemented through longterm,goal-orie nted project work, and the project will involve collaboratively creating 3-5development models for use as extension projects. In addition, a survey of the various fundingalternatives will be drawn up and a development seminar arranged for actors in the forestrysector in the areas of Lapland and Murmansk.
