Development of Cultivation Plan Programme (Wisu) for an Export Product to Russia
Date du début: 31 mai 2002, Date de fin: 30 déc. 2002 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The main objective of the project was to develop a Finnish cultivation plan program (Wisu) for a product for export to Russia. The program, for farmers and farming industry advisors, is commonly used as a tool in Finland and there is also a great need for it in Russia. Wisu is software for Windows operating systems which is intended to help with cultivation planning, farm bookkeeping and managing the complex farm-specific agricultural support system. The project was about transferring Finnish expertise. The Finnish counterpart ( JS-Focus) was the primary beneficiary of the project. A wider-scale benefit would also be created for Finnish purchasers and for initial production on the Russian side of the border. Achievements: The Cultivation Plan program was translated into Russian as planned. During programming, the Russian version was also localised by adding, for example, a Russian product selection and municipalities. The application was put into production use. However, the active users of the software are primarily in the manure industry rather than on farms. This is a result of the lack of a committed partner in Russia for distributing the software and handling the associated advisory services. It also became apparent during the project that the large farms in Russia have different needs for software content than Finnish family farms; Russian farmers have, for example, needs related to managing the equipment, personnel and materials of a large farming unit. These needs could be addressed using similar software to that already developed for use by contractor companies in Finland.
