Development of complex Geochronological and Geophysical laboratories for saving Archaeological heritage and solving Environmental problems (EnviArch)

The envisioned EnviArch project is a complex and multidisciplinary attempt to increase and generate cross-border co-operation in the field of R&D, cultural heritage, environmental sustainability and education, affecting also economically the construction industry and tourism.The main objectives of the project are to set up and improve 3 laboratories supporting long term sustainable archaeological and environmental research in the long run. The planned laboratories are: Radiocarbon/C14 dating laboratory, Luminescence TL/OSL dating laboratory and Geophysical laboratory. The infrastructural investment, however, is made along with the implementation of parallel research initiatives to serve the target area, the entire cross-border region and even the national and international levels. Beside the main objective of developing high, world standard and widely used laboratories, the experts also conduct two main research activities in the field of archaeology and environmental sciences. These activities will lay the fundaments of further research programs, preserve cultural heritage, increase environmental safety, and will contribute to attract further European funding to the area.The general objective of the project is initiating and increasing the intensity of research activity in archaeological and environmental sciences.Target groups: The project gives important benefits for the universities, museums, local communities, local and regional authorities and other stakeholders (construction industry, tourism). Expected Results: The complex laboratory provide important scientific results and make the region\'s research more competitive. Experts and university students have access to the most up-to date equipment for generating further research and further European funding (100-150 people affected).
