The objective is to develop technology centre co-operation between the St Petersburg (Leningrad area) and Lahti area Lappeenranta. The main Finnish partner will be the technology centre company Neopoli Oy and the opposite side in St Petersburg will be the Science and Tecnology Business Corporation technology centre. The project will also make use of the Russia expertise possessed by Kareltek Oy and Lappeenranta University of Technologyt. According to a environment cluster survey conducted by Neopoli Oy in 2001, more than 100 companies marketing environment technology and expertise and 22 public environment sector organisations operate in our areaNeopoli Oys task will be to help companies and educational organisations to get networked, go global and to make use of various EU financing instruments. The project will be used to create long-term co-operation between Russian and Finnish universities, educational institutes and companies.The project will develop technology transfer methods for utilising Finnish and Russian expertise and innovative activity. Companies will be helped to go global, and the Russia expertise of Finnish companies and educational organisations will be strengthened. In addition, the project will seek to improve the state of the environment in the border area.
