Development and evaluation of a complex chemical-physical-microbiological approach for assessing the quality of soils (SOILMAP)
Date du début: 31 déc. 2010, Date de fin: 29 juin 2012 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The projects aim is to improve soil health in the cross border regions by identifying and characterizing the important soil microorganisms with the help of molecular techniques such as DNA barcoding with correlation of the soils physical and chemical characters. Marker organisms were used to develop tools for assessing soil health and fertility. The general and functional microbial diversity patterns supplemented with basic chemical and biochemical soil values assure a complex soil quality assessment. The project partners performed the project preparation and management, the research and development task, such as developing the methodology for measuring soil microbial activity in the border regions, testing the methodology (60/60) in the eligible regions for cereal plants, performing the soil microbiological maps and dissemination of the project results to target groups.Target groups of the projects are researchers working in identification of soil biodiversity, farmers and SMEs, agricultural enterprises, consultancy and professional organizations, students, chamber of commerce and agriculture, local administration- authorities, regional development agencies, regional policy makers. The main results of the project are the CBC soil maps, the environmentally friendly cereal technologies, researchers exchange, as well as know-how transfer with large applicability in other NUTS III regions.
