PROJET
TERMINÉ
The topic we will be working on is “Development and Cooperation, how to manage a Development Aid Project”.
The project is based on the following needs.
In our previous COMENIUS-project on „Migration in the EU“, our students discovered that an important cause for migration is poverty in developing countries. In the present project, students will therefore work on the political and economic context of poverty, particularly in view of Europe's history and especially the history of the participating nations. In addition, they will examine the EU's measures to achieve the main objective of a common development policy, the sustainable eradication of poverty.
In our globalised world, young people are required to work on an international level when entering their professional lives. Therefore, entrepreneurial, intercultural, linguistic and ICT competences are needed (transversal skills).
Students should gain such practical international entrepreneurial experiences over a longer period of time. Such experiences and skills can neither be acquired in basic school courses nor in projects on a national level.
Therefore we decided to initiate a cooperative Development Fairtrade Aid Project which will be continued at the schools involved after the termination of the initial project. The project will be embedded in the school programmes and arrangements on the structural level will be made in order to promote the continuation of the project.
This Fairtrade project
- will be realised by teachers and students in the three countries involved in the project
- provides an opportunity for the schools involved to gain long-term experience in responsible international project management, taking into account ethical values
- fosters the assessment of transversal skills
- integrates development aid organisations and local non profit organisations
- is to be continued after the termination of the initial project due to its enbedding in the school programmes and curricula
At first, various possible projects will be presented (meetings 1-2), then one of these options will be selected and cooperatively realised by the participating schools (meetings 2-3).
The three participating schools of Germany, Spain and Poland have long term experiences in European cooperation and are committed to the development of the students' ICT competences and offer bilingual modules or branches in the English language. They have already worked together in previous COMENIUS projects.
Our project encourages both students and teachers to take initiatives and enhances interdisciplinary thinking as well as promoting creativity and innovation, including entrepreneurship. Students should gain competences in international project management by working with representatives of civil society in the form of development aid organisations. One of our main focuses will lie in the awareness of ethical values in the economical field and responsible management.
All partners aim at opening up new prospects for their students and to improve the attainment of young people. We want to encourage students to learn foreign languages and to cooperate with young people of different nationalities so as to enable them to acquire intercultural and foreign language competences in realistic learning and working situations. This project is an extension to the bilingual courses in English that the participant schools already offer or are presently establishing.
The most prominent and important result, however, is a Fairtrade project which is to be continued after the termination of the initial project due to its enbedding in the schools programmes and curricula (see above).
Bilingual teaching materials on the project's topic that are produced during the project will be made available for the next generation of teachers and participants.
Generally eTwinning will be used to distribute results and teaching material on a national and international level and we will spread these on the respective TwinSpace platforms.
We want to increase the students' motivation and self-confidence to cooperate in multinational groups during project weeks and by working together via internet as a model for their future work in Europe. In that context the students have to improve their language and communication skills.
We want to motivate the students to take joint responsibility as citizens of Europe for combatting poverty in the world. Furthermore we will strive for a positive perception of the European idea as well as a close cooperation with European partners and through the knowledge of the European initiatives and international cooperations.
