Developing the economic potential of the territorial assets of the Rhine corridor." (DEMARRAGE)
Date du début: 31 déc. 2008, Date de fin: 30 oct. 2014 PROJET  TERMINÉ

A key territorial challenge identified by the NWE programme. is the need to strengthen the attractiveness and performance of cities and regions in Northwest Europe. including through transnational actions that build on the economic potential of local and regional assets. This territorial challenge is at the core of DEMARRAGE. DEMARRAGE brings together all regions located in the Rhine corridor. This corridor forms a coherent geographical unit that offers great opportunities for economic interaction and governance cooperation on a transnational level. DEMARRAGE is set to use this territorial asset as a basis for economic development on a transnational scale. focusing on an economic sector that can build on the geographic properties of this corridor and that shows great economic potential in all partner regions. This sector is the tourism services sector. where especially the growing market of long-distance cycling shows strong economic potential. The overall aim of DEMARRAGE is to develop the transnational economic potential embedded in the territorial assets of the Rhine corridor for the tourism services sector. in particular in the growing market of long-distance cycling. by creating the necessary organisational framework. implementing a joint marketing programme and initiating business cooperation on the transnational scale of the Rhine corridor. We propose DEMARRAGE as a Geographically-oriented Strategic Initiative covering the territorial corridor South Holland - Switzerland. Our project has a strong territorial association with this transnational corridor in terms of partnership and content. Our partnership covers the corridors full geography and all relevant stakeholder disciplines. The subject is relevant to the whole territory and strongly linked to its assets. And our approach to the subject leads to outputs that have not been delivered before in this area or elsewhere. Achievements: Since 2010 DEMARRAGE was able to complete a number of successful measures. The project partners- Launched a quadrilingual website which provides users with valuable information about the entire Rhine Cycle Route. Additionally, interested individuals are able to find more detailed information about the regions via deeplinks.- Published a Corporate Design Manual which regulates the use of new international signs and shows how they should be incorporated alongside the existing signposting in the various countries. The correspondent signposting will be installed along the entire route by September 2014 and promoted in the various publications of the project. The Logos can be found on our website. In the framework of a common marketing concept, the project also realised key visuals which intend to further the recognition value of the Rhine Cycle Route.- Organised business panels which gave local tourism organisations and businesses the opportunitity to evaluate the standing of the Rhine Cyle Route as well as its needs. As a result, they developed eleven business concepts which give clear instruction on how to realize a product or a service.- Established a European Certification Standard (ECS). The ECS' goal is to improve the quality of long distance routes by identifying critical deficiencies in the network and motivation decision makers to invest in solutions to the identified problems. At the same time, the certification standard intends to be a basis to certify additional long distance (EuroVelo) routes in the future.- Implemented a successful marketing programme which promotes the entire Rhine Cycle Route in flyers, magazines, newspapers and on fairs. Compared to the past, in which regions tended to focus on their part of the route only, the newly developed marketing tools cover the entire route.
