Developing Learning Facilitators in SME's

The DLFS project pilots an innovative approach to developing lifelong learning in micro-enterprises, in all sectors, that is based on the concept of an in-company learning facilitator role. The project will survey training needs in micro-enterprises, in participating countries, will create an on-line training programme for learning facilitators and will test mechanisms for training providers in recruiting such intermediaries. Following an initial transnational survey of training needs and accessibility, for owners and staff in companies with less than ten employees, outcomes will form the basis for subsequent product development. An on-line training programme for learning facilitators will be created, evaluated and refined and is likely to cover the business case for training, the selection of learning formats, the pre-requisites for accessing existing courses (including IT) and staff motivation. Different approaches and mechanisms for recruiting learning facilitators will then be defined, tested and evaluated. Resulting reports will cover the survey and a final external evaluation with all end products made available on-line, in all partner languages. (EL, ES, FR, EN, PT, HU & RO). The developed approach is expected to increase VET uptake in micro-enterprises as new learning facilitators assist training designers in adopting a more client-oriented approach and in devising tailor-made training products. A range of national and international business support agencies, training providers and policy makers will be involved in consultations and will be kept informed of both uptake and impact of the project. A broad-ranging publicity campaign, series of seminar presentations and a final transnational products launch are envisaged, with eventual commercialisation also being considered.
