Developing Human Rights Education at the Heart of Higher Education

This project will provide sustainable human rights education involving staff, students and university management and infrastructure. It will provide:• Modernisation and reform of higher education through developing curricula, programmes, courses and pedagogy at degree level in human rights • Development of multi-disciplinary courses and programmes • Mainstreaming of gender issues and women's rights across programmes and courses • Programmes and courses through which the university, staff and students contribute to the development of societies • Enhanced cooperation across and between university departments • Development of mutual understanding and cooperation amongst universities in the region with specific interest and expertise in human rights and citizenship leading to the potential for sharing and developing sustainable programmes of study and practice in human rights• Support to enable students to learn about and for human rights at undergraduate degree and post-graduate degree level as a contribution to engaged citizenship• Enhanced student participation in a learning environment grounded in human rights principles of respect, equality and collaboration/participation• Students with experience of working with and contributing to civil society . Students with skills and knowledge that will contribute to their future employability.• Staff with the skills needed to develop human rights curricula at undergraduate and postgraduate levels that meet EU standards and provides a sustainable platform for ongoing curriculum development and reform• Opportunities for staff to collaborate in and develop sustainable networks across the region • Opportunities for staff to implement innovative teaching and learning pedagogies • Collaboration between faculties in order to enhance mutual understanding between staff in EU and partner countries and between partner countries.
