Developing a logistic network and improving the competitiveness of transports (Developing a logistic network and improving the competitiveness of transports)

The purpose of the project is to open a transverse traffic connection between the ports of theKemi-Tornio area and the north-west parts of Russia through ”the Salla Corridor”. The role ofthe Kemi-Tornio area as the logistics centre for goods transport will be strengthened and theinvestments required by increasing container transports will be made. Needs for developinggoods transports through the Salla Corridor will be outlined and obstacles to goodstransportations removed. The project will yield economic research data, and the results obtainedfrom feasibility and profitability surveys will be compared with the trends observed in the St.Petersburg Route.
