The design of three flood protection reservoirs was required in the borderlineareas of Hungary. The municipalities concerned received plans suitable for watermanagement licensing and for individually performed construction works, whichare suitable even for individual construction upon the settlement of ownership issuesand/or upon obtaining funding. In case of even the individual realization of the reservoirs,the flood protection safety of the River Bódva valley will considerably improve. Theimplementation of the complete program is to increase flood protection safety to adegree varying by settlement, from the current 50-60 % to 80-90%. Coordination worksforming a basis for the licensing plan of the flood protection reservoirs as well as datacollection works were performed by the staff of the North Hungarian Environment andWater Directorate in cooperation with project partners.
