PROJECT CONTEXTProgramme: Erasmus+Key action: Learning Mobility of Individuals (KA1)Action: Mobility of Learners and StaffAction type: School education staff mobility (KA101)Call: 2016OBJECTIVES•Establish and increase links with other European schools and educational institutions•Favour and encourage our school’s modernization and internationalization•Increase and improve the school’s educational offer in order to cope with the demand for CLIL / bilingual education•Improve our teaching staff’s both professional and linguistic competence•Increase our teachers’ motivation to join of the CLIL programme and consolidate it•Improve the staff’s professional training by taking part on activities linked to the project•Enhance mutual understanding and the access to new methods, systems and policies regarding education•Improve the quality of the teaching-learning activities•Boost our school’s capacity to meet its own social, linguistic and cultural diversity•Increase the opportunities of the most disadvantaged students to learn a foreign language•Increase the whole education community‘s motivation and satisfaction regarding our daily work•Improve the number of students’ applications for the CLIL programme along the different educational stages•Improve our school’s public image in our nearest area and project it abroad•Grant the project continuity in order to consolidate and increase the improvements fostered with its implementationPARTICIPANTS•Members of the management team (also teaching in the school) : 5 (Headmaster, Head of Studies, Bachillerato Deputy Head of Studies, Compulsory Secondary Education Deputy Head of Studies, Vocational Training Deputy Head of Studies)•Members of the Guidance Department: 1•Foreign Language teachers: 1•Physical Education teachers: 3•Technology teachers: 2•Art and design teachers: 1•Economy teachers: 1•Vocational Studies teachers: 4 (Health, Administration and Civil Works)This makes a total of 15 teachers, all of whom have an extensive career, ranging from 6 to 22 years of academic experience. Many of them also teach in the English CLIL programme.DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES Activity: Job-shadowing in school or company so as to know new managing and teaching practices. 2 mobilitiesActivity: methodological/teaching training course. Specially for the teachers taking part in the CLIL programme, in order to improve their teaching skills regarding that specific methodology or get to know new teaching practices in general: 6 mobilitiesActivity: language training course. For the teachers who need to improve their linguistic competence in order to join the school’s CLIL programme. 5 mobilitiesTOTAL: 13 mobilities requested.METHODOLOGYFrom the beginning, the design of the process has been characterized by the following features:•Openess: all the members of the staff have had access to the information linked to the project and have been invited to participate in this joint venture.•Participation: the setting-up of a group and the way in which work has been organized and structured within it, has been a key fact to foster participation. The design of the project has evolved along our meetings as a result of the addition of all the participants’ experiences and contributions, from both those who had a previous experience in European projects and those who faced such a project for the first time.•Cooperation: It must be noted, then that every step taken has been the result of a collaborative effort and not of any type of imposition.•Work distribution: although every participant has contributed ideas in the different parts of the projects, we made an initial distribution of work to allow us to analyze more calmly and thoroughly our school’s situation, necessities and goals in relation to each part of the project.•Assessment: our weekly meetings have allowed us to share and discuss the work carried out by the different groups along the week, to connect all the items analyzed and our proposals and, ultimately, to assess our own working processEXPECTED RESULTS, BENEFITS AND IMPACT The Project aims at achieve short, medium and long term benefits.In the first place, in the sort-term, we seek to improve our teacher’s linguistic and teaching competence as well a greater implication on their part when developing projects. Our most important medium-term objectives, on the other hand, are to extend the school’s CLIL offer, broaden the presence of our institution in Europe, increase our teaching staff’s sense of fulfilment and to increase our capacity to elicit changes in our school.Finally, in the long-term, we expect to broaden and improve our educational offer and the creation of a favourable environment to open up Europe to the whole of our educational community.To assess the impact of our project, we will resort to different tools, such as questionnaires, assessment sheets and statistics, which will allow us to verify and quantify the results obtained.
