In a political european context which favors the inclusion and the accessibility in the society for persons with fewer opportunities, it seemed important for us that young visually impaired people, supported by our organizations, can be in confrontation in their experiences and their lives with the reality of other EU countries in this field. Realities are really different from a country to another one, but what about the accessibility in the city, the inclusion at school, in the professional life, the participation in the social life ? The aim of our project is to allow 24 young visually impaired students, blind or partially sighted, from France, Bulgaria, Netherlands and Italy, to be in confrontation with their experiences in the field of accessibility and inclusion. these young students are all, in the practice of school inclusion, or in vocational training, or in a specialised frame. We aim to organize one week of exchanges, visits and experiences for all these young visually impaired students, and their supporters, and that in Angers (France), from Monteclair Institute, organization for visually impaired people. We intend to organize various activities, to show the reality of inclusion and accessibility, with our partners from Angers, but also times of exchanges concerning our experiences.
The partnership is composed of participants with different realities : between an eastern EU country, a south EU country, an north EU country, and France, which will enable to these young students from 16 to 20 years old, to discover other kind of systems, and to exchange with their peers about their lives and their experiences.
This project has to bring to the participants a real mind opening about the different realities, to be in confrontation with different experiences, which will enlarge their own lives.
Results of this project will be disseminated within ENVITER network, EU network of professionals working in the field of visual impairment, as well as to other organizations like EBU, European Blind Union, or the EU branch of ICEVI, the International Council for Education of Visually Impaired.
