The youth exchange "Deeper into Media" is a continuation of the development of the topic of media that we have already started with our organisation's very first exchange, but this one would be realized with some new partners and going even deeper in the topic, tackling such topics, like advertising, social networks, media manipulation, media and freedom, election campaigns, etc. Young people that we worked with on the previous exchange have initiated this idea and they wanted to reflect on the way we are influenced by media and how we react to information from media. The youth exchange will take place in Rijeka, Croatia from May 17 - 24. This youth exchange involves 40 young people from Croatia, Luxembourg, Romania, Italy and FYR Macedonia. The young people participating in this exchange will be able to compare the situation in their countries and discuss about the role that media plays in our societies. The reflective workshops, presentations and discussions in small groups and in plenary, games, quizzes will be dedicated on the main topics foreseen for this project. Following this approach, young people will be able to present their opinion about the particular theme. Also, the participants will get time to create some real media output on these topics. Recording short movies, writing own newspaper or taking journalist photos by using the ideas and inspiration from the morning sessions about the themes will be just some of the activities that the participants at the exchange will need to complete. The 8-day programme will use methods on non-formal education and learning by doing. A trip to Rijeka with excursion and discussions about media will also be part of this youth exchange. We will also communicate actively with the local community in the venue of the exchange and try to involve them in the project and in creating our media outputs. The results of the youth exchange will be disseminated through social networks, websites and through our partner organisation.
