Decoding Conflicts through Dialogue
Date du début: 1 août 2014, Date de fin: 28 févr. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Project DECODE aims to raise awareness on the topic of intercultural communication as well as to equip the participants with appropriate skills concerning dialogue and negotiations that would allow them to solve conflicts more efficiently. The main goal of the training is to share knowledge and skills in the field of communication and conducting negotiations in different cultural environments, both on local and European level. The project focuses on the promotion of active participation in civil society and provides practical and effective ways of communication and dialogue. A group of 35 young active and open persons (toal with traineers and organisers) working as volunteers and youth workers in NGOs will take part in the project. Those are the people who meet with youth and young adults from different cultural environments in their everyday routine. They will be also chosen due to the fact that they are on the verge of entering the labour market and function as youth leaders in their local societies. The main activity will be a 7-day training in the form of a field game based on a scenario of fictional conflict. It will be followed by the series of discussions and workshops (theoretical and practical) conducted by professionals in the field of Alternative Dispute Resolutions and international communication. The field game will allow the participants to cope with real problems and solve real-life conflicts. Additionally, the game will contain references to the European Union that will help introduce its methods of operation and conduct in international politics. There will be also a newspaper issued during the training, reporting on the events of each day in the game and raising awareness about the role of media in shaping the opinions of their recipients. As the result of the project participants will gain new skills in the field of conflict management, building negotiation strategies and identifying conflicts connected with multiculturalism. The training will affect their sensitivity towards the situation of people with different social and cultural backgrounds, encourage them to take active part in building civil society and motivate them to organize new events. The most important long-term benefits include the development of individuals that are aware of the need for effective dialogue, which in the long run will serve to disseminate knowledge of multiculturalism and effective conflict resolutions. They shall also possess the necessary tools to make further international cooperation in the field of business, education and culture. Due to the project the chances of fair representation of interests of local communities on national and international level will increase, which can lead to a significant impact on the improvement of the situation in the region.
