Dare to change

"Dare to change" was a training course about youth employment through social entrepreneurship. CEIPES was the host organization and hosted 35 participants from 9 European and Mediterranean countries + Italy. The training lasted 7 days and was held in Palermo, Italy. The aim of this project was to contribute to increase youth employability and to promote social change in areas of concern for European and Mediterranean countries by means of empowering young people to take action through social entrepreneurship initiatives. The objectives were: 1. To develop knowledge, skills, attitudes and competences in social entrepreneurship, 2. To learn how to create and run a social entrepreneurship training with young people, 3. To discover and share different social entrepreneurship initiatives in the Euro-Mediterranean area and in the world, 4. To learn how to encourage youth initiative and boost entrepreneurship competence in young people, 5. To foster young people’s active participation in society and underline their role as agents of social change, 6. To encourage young people to get involved in alternative economic systems with a stronger social responsibility dimension. The main activities were introduce youth workers to social and solidarity economy, share concrete experiences of social entrepreneurship in different countries included a meeting with a local youth social entrepreneur, learn how to encourage and support youth initiative in the social entrepreneurship field, and build competences on how to run social entrepreneurship programmes with young people using non-formal education. The idea of the project was to create new ideas and new entrepreneurial outcomes thanks to the sharing of idea and the synergies among the participants. The main methods were a simulation of a social entrepreneurship initiative, a world cafè, a panel discussion, a share of experiences and best practice, a group work, and debates, etc.
