The application is submitted by a consortium, which consists of four organizations: NGO International Labour Contacts Network - the project and the consortium coordinator (Vilnius), Joniskis “Saule” secondary school Day Care Center , budgetary institution Youth Day Center (Panevezys), and an association of disabled people “Community Vilnius Hope” (Vilnius). The Consortium’s major goal is to continuously improve the quality of services for the disabled by sharing experiences, initiating innovations and learning from colleagues in Lithuania and abroad. The project is intended for staff of the members of the consortium. The project will implement one major activity - internship/work observation. The host organization is an Icelandic non-governmental organization called “Às styrktarfélag”. It was founded in 1958 at the initiative of parents of children with intellectual disabilities.Ten staff members of the consortium will take part in the internship. The staff will come from the following positions: 4 administrative staff, 4 social workers, 1 social worker’s assistant, and 1 labour broker. The duration of the project is 1 week, including travel (7 days). The internship will take place in the second half of 2016 according to an internship programme drafted and coordinated between the consortium members and the recipient organization. We will use only national certificates for approval of competences and qualifications. The expected short-term effects of the project are as follows: participants will improve their basic competencies, activity planning and strategic development, training/education process management, and assessment competencies. Participants will gain some more motivation to take part in international mobility projects, will be able to assess pros and cons of new teaching methods or techniques for the work with persons with disabilities, will be able to apply new skills and knowledge for the strategic development of their institutions, to actively participate in the development of Lithuania’s informal adult learning system on behalf of either their own institutions or the consortium in general. In addition, participants will become more tolerant, will broaden their general cultural knowledge, and improve their foreign language, social and communication skills. It is expected that in the long run the project will improve the quality and flexibility of the services offered by the consortium, its members will more enthusiastically offer innovations, and will more actively participate in the development of non-formal adult education.
