Date du début: 1 août 2015, Date de fin: 31 juil. 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The aim of the project was to motivate pupils to break the communication barrier with foreigners - volunteers from other countries, and to get over the fear to communicate in other languages. Volunteers together with pupils and also teachers were able to communicate with each other in foreign languages and because the German volunteer had learned Latvian by the mid-term training of the project, all people even who had no knowledge of English or German, were able to communicate in Latvian with the volunteer. The project tasks were with the help of volunteers to promote pupils understanding about other cultures and communication with volunteers, to help to improve pupils communication skills with foreigners. By involving volunteers in school's everyday life and creating activities in the school that have not been created before, together with pupils and teachers, volunteers were able not only to create new activities but also improved the communication skills with the target group. In the project we hosted 2 volunteers, one volunteer was from Germany (19 years), and one Portuguese volunteer (21 years). In the project, there were involved two volunteers that wanted to work with kids and youth and to create different activities for them. Volunteers had a unique opportunity to get an insight of the practical work of the teachers at work. That was a vital gain about acquiring information about the profession of the teacher as both volunteers showed interest in becoming a teacher in the future. In the EVS project volunteers had the opportunity to acquire theoretical skills and do practical work of a teacher (by assisting the teachers and doing afterschool activities) and to evaluate their future profession to work as a teacher. During the project, the EVS program was popularized for pupils in 7th-9th grade with an average age of 14-16, explained what is Erasmus+ and EVS and what opportunities it gives to youth in the Europe. Pupils were motivated in early informing about their future professions and studies within next 2-5 years, which was done before and also during the profession week in the school. During the project, volunteers got to know the school and its system, pupils and teachers, that helped to understand the teacher's profession more detailed. By evaluating the pupils' needs there were activities held, that were created by volunteers together with pupils and teachers, and it was vital for all parties involved, in particular for pupils and volunteers, who commonly created them. Volunteers assisted teachers by participating in lessons and watching teachers work and teaching process, and they were able not only to get an insight of teachers work but also to help the teachers in the lesson and to give some ideas about teaching methods and some new techniques that are used in their countries, if any arose, and to create after school activities: creative workshops, language lessons etc.
