Since 19 years the club „Aktion Tschernobyl Kinder e.V.“ organizes meetings between children and teenagers from Belarus and Germany. After the establishment recreational trips for children from Belarus stood in the foreground. For several years, the association also organizes meetings with youth policy and creative content. German and Belarusian young people discuss current social topics and overcame cultural differences while cooking, playing at the theater or on excursions in Brandenburg and Berlin. With "dance meets europe" we want to bring together young people from different European countries in the summer of 2014. We invite groups from the countries of Belarus, Hungary, Italy, Russia and Germany. The exchange on socio-political issues and the creativity will complement each other during the 10 days and bring together different cultures. The project is planned to take place between 27th of July to 5th of August 2014. The project participants will all be hosted at the “Inselparadies Petzow”. At this premise there is enough space to have workshops, plan activities and be creative all together. Being near to the cities of Potsdam and Berlin, it is a good opportunity to have a visit to those as both show a variety of German culture, history and modern Germany. The groups consist of 10 teenagers added by 2 adults. The energy change is the focus of this youth movement. It is a current topic in Germany. Whichever way it goes in Germany is described and discussed. But how are other countries in Europe dealing with the energy change? What requirements do they have? Energy is an European issue and does not stop at national borders. Within the workshops we want to know the strategies for the energy change; discuss and develop it. Visits at the the energy companies and German government shall help to deal with this topic very authentically. Together with films about the topic atomic release and the documentation of affected persons we would like to deal with this sensitively. Hereby the club can take advantage of the experiences of the Belarusian partners. The special of this youth meeting is that all participants are happy to dance. Therefore it is planned to creatively work on the topic – energy change. The dance will be our medium. What is the story the young people can dance to this topic? Workshops which are taught by dance teachers from the participating countries, providing the participants with a framework - a forum jointly develop a dance program. Three performances are planned for the public, in which the results of the dance workshops will be shown. The performances will take place in Klaistow, Michendorf and Potsdam. With this project we want to attract and retain the young people from different countries with creativity, information, fun and many different services. There are follow-up projects in the countries which are considered in order to ensure sustainability. We hope that we can sensitize the participants for voluntary service with this youth meeting.
