"Czech the Facts Out" is a project created by two active and experienced NGO workers that already successfully implemented project together. We believe, that there are many neglected areas in media literacy education, particular in ability of young people to critically analyze and evaluate messages in a wide variety of media, genres, and forms. We believe, that it is crucial to be aware of actual threats resulting from manipulative presentation of facts by some media or interest groups. Project will help participants to discover procedures and techniques used for manipulation together with tools how to confirm and verify news, speeches and statements. Project will ensure, that participants ask questions about what they watch, hear, read and critically analyze messages. This will be ensured by both informative and practical workshops. Midmorning activities will be naturally based on methods of Non Formal Education. As an example of such activities we can mention various games, energizers, discussions, creative workshops, Open space technique etc. These will be focused on the topic of the project and facilitated by experienced trainer. Afternoon activities will generally examine three phenomenons connected to media literacy: “hoax”, “factchecking”, “propaganda”. Firstly, for each topic participants will present current state in the media area of their country, so whole group can compare differences from national perspective. Activities itself will mainly consist of practical workshops facilitated by reputable organizations focusing on this topic. With their assistance participants will gain practical skills to oppose manipulative efforts from media, politicians or other interest groups. Workshops will also consist of case studies for better understanding and seizability of the problem.Besides of raising participants awareness in this crucial and actual topic, we want to address results from this project even further, to other people. By our outcome, we want to spread, that people should not content themselves with generalizing, simplifying, manipulative news, often targeting emotions and fear. We want to help people resisting fake news with providing them with basic guidelines how to orientate in the overflow of information.
