Customs and Traditions in Europe as an Educational Concept for Preschool and Primary Education
Date du début: 1 sept. 2014, Date de fin: 31 août 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Cultural diversity, customs and traditions as an educational concept in Europe is a substantial topic of this project. It deepens the cooperation of the towns Příbram and Hoorn which was started in the year 1992. Both countries have a slightly different system of education as in the Netherlands pre-primary and primary education is patronized by one institution whereas the Czech system sharply distinguishes between a kindergarten and primary school and also teachers training differs in many ways. One of the objectives of this project is to compare the systems of education, share experience and exchange examples of best practice. The participants of this project are municipal offices and various educational institutions operating on different levels of education such as pre-primary, primary, secondary and adult education. The number of direct participants include sixty project team members from all participating institutions in both countries as well as about 300 pupils who are active agents in all proposed activities, last but not least a numerous public audience will be involved into the project. The main activities to be carried out are practical celebrating of a festival organised every month during the three project years. Before the particular celebration, methodical preparation will take place. The proper feast or celebration will be made a public event accessible for everybody. The participating schools will provide common implementation of the activities followed by an evaluation. Didactic material, worksheets, reports, photo documentation, interviews, press releases and sharing of experience about the Waldorf pedagogy and artefiletics are seen as the most important outcomes. The methods of critical thinking, alternative educational approaches and experience pedagogy will be used to carry out the project implementation. The main result is a Czech-Dutch-English methodical reference book collecting the outcomes of all project activities and bringing innovative insight into education of European citizens at the early stage taking into account inclusion of children from different social backgrounds and encouraging the respect to equal chances in a multicultural society. Enhancing the quality and the amount of mobilities in Europe, supporting learning and teaching of foreign languages , promoting innovative approaches, encouraging long life learning and further education of pedagogical staff, emphasising the European dimension in education and learning about European countries represent essential long term benefits of this project. Its sustainability will be ensured by regular dissemination activities carried out during the project life cycle as well as after the implementation phase, especially by creating of courses and seminars for teachers prepared by VISK and Stichting Netwerk and followed by transfer of all outcomes into national school curricula.
