The project Curriculum development and increasing professional competence was based on the staff competencies required in a bilingual and internationally oriented school, and also the needs in curriculum development for the new national and local curriculums that took effect in August 2016 in both the lower and upper schools. Therefore the objectives of the project were twofold: professional development (language skills, pedagogy, CLIL teaching, special education, multicultural student support) and on the other hand tools and ideas for the school's curriculum development (internationalism, new pedagogy, course syllabi, assessment). We involved two teachers in the project through job shadowing. These teachers both have long careers and are instrumental in the development of their subject curricula and the professional development of their work groups. We also hoped to gain potential new international partners for future European cooperation between schools, teachers, and students. The project was coordinated by the school's international coordinator who planned and arranged the activities together with the participants with the approval and support of the principals. The results gained by the participants in the activities were evaluated by and shared with the specific subject groups, the pedagogical, and the development teams in the school. The skills and knowledge gained has been shared by the participants within the school with colleagues but also outside the school with other teachers through personal, local, and national networks of teachers and schools. The participating teachers were both active in writing the new curricula for their subjects and report that the job shadowing gave them new ideas and a fresh look at their own work. Both teachers reported the job shadowing was eye opening and that they benefitted greatly for being personally involved and observing actual teaching situations. To quote one teacher: "I got a lot of new ideas of what to teach and how to teach. It also gave me a lot of courage to change many tuition in many ways." New international connections were also made and there are already plans for student group exchanges and eTwinning projects. The benefits of the activities are ongoing but already we have seen that the job shadowing activities were motivating and useful for all involved.
