Culture ShoX will explore new methods of inclusion and intercultural dialogue between young Europeans and newcomers with fewer opportunities through performing art and culture. We will promote knowledge, understanding and relations through informal, non-formal and youth-to-youth learning in artistic co-creating activities.Objectives- Promote inclusion of young newcomers with fewer opportunities through performing art and culture.- Promote active citizenship and a positive awareness of intercultural Europe among the young Europeans and young newcomers through performing art and culture.- Develop friendships and network between young Europeans and newcomers across national and cultural borders.- Develop and share new methods and a common way of using performing art and culture as a tool for promoting integration.- Promote international and interdisciplinary collaboration and the sharing of best practices between European organisations and ensure a long-term network.ParticipantsThe project has 3 groups of participants and 2 of the groups change with each main activity, which mean that each of the 2 main activities addresses a new group of participants. Each main activity will involve a group of 28 young participants consisting of 14 young Europeans (7 from the local host organisation and 7 from the sending partner organisation) and 14 local young newcomers:1. 14 young Europeans between the age 15 and 25 with residence in the countries of the partner organisations. The group will contain 7 participants from the local organisations hosting the activity and 7 from the partner organisations sending participants for the activity.2. 14 young newcomers between 15 and 25 taking part in the local activity of their own host country.3. 2 Young social team leaders between the age 21 and 30 with volunteering experience in an integration agency. They take part in the project development and prepare and support the young participants at each activity.Culture ShoX has 2 main activities with 2 different artistic focuses: theatre at TheatrEtc. in Cyprus and music at DSI SE in Denmark. From 2 themes within the context of Intercultural Europe, the 2 main activities use performing art and culture to develop skills and capacity of both newcomers and young Europeans to foster interaction and integration, thereby promoting community cohesion. Each main activity is designed upon methods from the specific artistic field to create and investigate new artistic approaches and methods to reach the overall objectives. They will consist of youth-to-youth learning, informal, non-formal social and co-creative activities promoting intercultural dialogue and understanding. Each main activity will culminate in a co-created interpretation and performance designed and carried out by the participants addressing the 2 themes within the context of Intercultural Europe. This performance or display will be disseminated locally and documented. The documented performances will be gathered in a film collage that binds together the topics and artistic expression under the overall context of intercultural Europe.Expected impact on young participants during the project:- Skills in developing, creating, discussing and performing within a specific artistic field.- Overcoming linguistic barriers by the use of performing art as a common language.- Intercultural awareness, acceptance and collaboration skills.Expected long-term impact on young participants:- Relations and friendship across borders.- Social and professional network across Europe.Expected impact on young social team leaders during the project:- Interdisciplinary collaboration skills.- Development of professional competences.Expected long-term impact on young social team leaders:- International network across professional fields.Expected impact on participating organisations during the project:- International and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.- Sharing of best practice.Expected long-term impact on participating organisations:- International network across professional fields.- Increased visibility and validation of methods of performing art and culture.Expected impact on a local and international level:- New relations and a sense of community between young locals and newcomers.- Stronger intercultural cohesion in the local community.- New positive and creative ways of addressing the issues of the refugee situation in Europe.- Promotion of collaboration across professional fields in Europe.- Increased visibility and validation of methods of performing art and culture.Through a diverse dissemination strategy for sharing the results and approaches internationally and across professional fields, we secure visibility and accessibility to information for a large and diverse target group during and after the project. This way we maximize the potential impact on local communities, local and European authorities and other organisations outside the project.
