Cultural Fusion - Our Signs and Symbols
Cultural Fusion - Our Signs and Symbols
Date du début: 1 sept. 2009,
Thisbrought together 27 young people and 5 group leaders from 5 different countries, these being Latvia, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, and Malta, the hosting country. Throughout the 10 day activity period, the young people involved in the project were engaged in a number of interesting activities and workshops, within the themes of Art and Culture, and European Awareness. The main aim of the non-formal methods applied for the activities is to make the participants aware of the different dimensions of cultural diversity and the multicultural Europe they live in, while promoting an active citizenship, developing solidarity and tolerance among young people, and ensuring a mutual understanding between young people from different countries having a different cultural background. From an artistic perspective, the young people wlooked at various signs and symbols associated with their cultures and countries, and they worked together to bring these symbols together, by using clay, paint, and sand. From a social perspective, the young people have learned about each other's everyday encounters through a series of dicussions, roleplays, and other workshops, with the scope of challenging any stereotypes and prejudice associated with the participanting groups. Towards the end of the activity, the project will see the distribution of bookmarks created during the workshops to the local community, and the opening of a public photographic exhibition.
