“Crowns and Pawns” is a point&click adventure game, based on European history with added fictional events. It is a story driven game with puzzles and mini games. It will be a premium game with estimated gameplay of 4-6 hrs.The game is targeted at PC (Windows, Mac), current gen consoles (Xbox One and PlayStation 4) and tablets (iPad, Android, Win10 tablets).The game takes place in Europe and explores the (hi)story of the lost crown of Vytautas the Great, the grand duke of Lithuania – the largest kingdom in Europe at that time (end of 14th century). Although it explores this historical theme, the game is set in the 21st century. The game characters are drawn into mysterious events and are set on a journey to find out the fate of the lost crown. On their journey they need to explore the culture and history of Lithuania and Europe (eg. during the game the protagonist will visit France), visit historical sites and discover long lost (partly fictional) secrets.The player controls the protagonist and interacts with the game world by searching for information, interacting with other characters, solving puzzles, etc. The game will have different control schemes for different platforms.The graphics style will be stylised, but not “pixelated” or childishly cartoon. The game will feature HD graphics, combining 2D and 3D elements, adding real time dynamic soft shadows and special shaders to achieve maximum visual quality.Development of this game has already begun, the base of the story has been thought through (including a thorough research of historical facts), breakdown by location has been made, the design and artwork for ACT I have been created. This pre-development stage was partly funded by the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture, and the Ministry has already granted additional funds for business trips to seek partners and showcase the development progress.Detailed description and some visuals are in the attached GDD.
