Cross Cultural Vocational Training for Teachers of SEN and Students with SEN

The learning mobility project was implemented in cooperation with National Star Specialist College, located in Cheltenham of the United Kingdom and was involving two main activities: -training of the educational and scientific staff -training of students with special educational needs Our school staff was trained in the new scientific data and current trends in SEN, the modern scientific methodology, new therapeutic interventions, the latest educational techniques and strategies. The main objectives of our students training were the learning of new professional skills , as well as learning of new techniques, their integration in an intercultural community and their exposure to new experiences and stimuli, the enhancement of self-image and self-esteem, the development of social skills, their social adjustment, and strengthen their autonomy and independence. The programme involved 40 students with special educational needs with 15 teachers supporters and 40 highly experienced and committed members of the teaching and scientific staff. The training programme promoted interaction and active participation in the process. After the completion, the mobility project is expected to broaden the horizon of the participating staff , to develop and enhance self-esteem , to help to the application of technical and practical methods and tools in the educational process , improving the quality of the provided educational project, to strengthen professional skills , to make contact with international links and create intercultural collaborations and appropriate job opportunities for young people with special educational needs. The aim is to become a pilot school as far as the organisation , structure and function, is concerned, in both a management level , as well as in an educational and training level, for similar schools both in Greece and abroad.
