The project “Cross-border school for traditional folklore and ethnography – bridge between the legend and the reality in Europe” /FOLKLORE BRIDGE/ will be implemented by the Municipal administration of Satovcha, as a leading organization, and the Cultural Center “Prosveta 1937” in Pletena village and the municipality of Kato Nevrokopi (Greece), as project partners.The project corresponds with the 1 priority Axis – Quality of live; Area of intervention 1.2: Conservation, management and promotion of cultural resources of the European territorial cooperation programme Greece-Bulgaria 2007 – 2013.The project activities aim to contribute to the preservation of the specific cultural heritage traditions and folklore and to optimize the opportunities for sustainable socio-economic development in the cross-border region through coordination, cooperation, expansion and strengthening of the partnership between the municipality Satovcha and the municipality Kato Nevrokopi. Expected Results: 1. Raised awareness and involvement of local communities in the documentation and preservation of the unique intangible cultural heritage of the cross-border region. Through the planned project activities the local cultural heritage will not only be documented and preserved but promoted and popularized beyond the region. 2. Increased capacity for preservation of intangible cultural heritage, including physical capacities like renovated facilities, new sets of traditional costumes, musical instruments and performance equipment, as well as acquired specific skills by the employees of involved institutions and other stakeholders. These capacities will enable local cultural and educational institutions on both sides of the border to continue preserving and promote their cultural heritage on regional, national and international level.3. Generation of structured information and proper documentation of the intangible cultural heritage of the region, which will eliminate the current risk of loss of valuable cultural elements. The well-structured documentation will enable the creation of educational programs for promotion of the intangible cultural heritage and for the carrying out of other efforts to sustain its preservation. 4. Activation of partnerships among stakeholders on both sides of the border, which will be stimulated by the nature of the project activities and enabling approach of building capacities.
