Shortage of radiologists in Lithuania andLatvia border regions is acute - there areno radiologists available in the hospitals onholidays and weekends when the tendencyof accidents is increasing. Also duringthe working days the radiologists are notavailable all the time. This is the crucial link in patient care between the health problemand adequate treatment.The project increases the quality of life forinhabitants in border areas of Latvia andLithuania by improving health care servicesof local hospitals and contributing to socioeconomicdevelopment of these areas.The project results in more effective andefficient patient care in Preili Hospital (LV),Ludza District Hospital (LV) and ZarasaiHospital (LT) by provision of high qualityround-the-clock timely and precisediagnostic radiology services with the help ofinnovative teleradiology solutions. This helpsto overcome problem of lack of radiologypersonnel in these hospitals by assistancerendered and competences transferredfrom academic medical centres.
