“Creative strategies to approach challenging Youth”

The training “Creative strategies to approach challenging Youth” will bring 20 youth workers/leaders together and provide them the possibility to share the togetherness feeling, knowledge and experience on the sensitivity of the topic. The main aim of the training is to ensure the awareness of the complexity of the problems youth with fewer opportunities are facing as well to ensure the inclusion of them in social life using non-formal learning methods. The aims of the training are : to explore the topic of inclusion the work practice with youth; to explore and investigate the profile of youth with fewer opportunities; to advocate for the techniques of non-formal learning; to explore the aims and objectives of the Erasmus +; to develop cooperation across Europe and enhance European networking. The objectives of this project are for participants: to learn about volunteering work practice across Europe; to explore the theory and practice of evaluations and observations; to develop practical, analytical thinking, reasoning and logic skills in working and leading with young people; to have a good working knowledge of the Erasmus+; to encourage reflection on one’s own learning; to accommodate diversity of readiness, experience and backgrounds. Professional youth workers/leader and motivated volunteers are like role models for their target groups, for which they have to care responsibilities and challenges on including youth with fewer opportunities or no opportunities at all. We experienced during previous trainings as well through practices, that the ability to observe and evaluate is critical in identifying one’s weaknesses. However, turning them into strong points can be crucial moments in approaching the youth with fewer opportunities. The project involves partners from the European Union and from South East Europe (SEE). Intercultural learning is one of the mainstream topics and with bringing them together in a Albanian community in rural area we ask them again to cooperate as an international team and to get acquainted with new cultures during the international evening, all working sessions, study visits and free time, as the group will live and work together for 5 days. To achieve the desired objectives and aims we require from our participants that they are working in their organization. Or as a professional youth worker/leader or as active volunteers. One thing they must have in common is that they should be able to share their experiences and learned methods during the training. Next to this we expect that all the participants have frequently contacts with their targetgroups back home, this can also be disadvantaged young people in their own environment and are involved/engage with them. This to make sure that the learning skills/points not feading away after coming back but will stay inside the organisation. The working method that takes a central place during the training is peer education. We strongly believe that learning from each other, sharing good and bad moments together will have effect in a positive atmosphere, promoting balance and solidarity among the participants creating the common ground in which the trainers can work on. All these different kind of peer moments will happen during the training and it will give the participants the opportunity to share their knowledge, experiences and their points of views. This working method can give positive energy to those who share and take. Games, practical examples, exercises, workshops and experiences from each applicant will be used during the training to reach our aims. The methods employed over the 5 days of the training will be visual presentations, group work, group discussions and brainstorming, presentation of the Erasmus+ programme, organizing a open NGO market and meeting with local officials, workshops and round tables and panels discussions. The impact this training will have on the participants is to gained knowledge about youth work and the practise of Erasmus+ projects in different parts of Europe; the awareness of the complexity of the problems youth with fewer opportunities are facing as well to ensure the inclusion of them in social life using non-formal learning methods; to have learnt techniques of non-formal learning with young people and to be able to use them in their own organisations; to develop new partnerships and projects together. Our expected outcome is that participants will share their new learning tools and techniques to their colleagues who then are able to spread it further on to colleagues. We will also encourage them to create an ask-and-answer platform, which will provide a constant communication between participants on case studies, working methods, subjects, materials, etc.
