Summary of the project: Social exclusion is a serious problem that affects many people all over Europe. It can be connected to social class, educational status, minority and disability. We would like to draw attention to this issue and show young people that they can do many things in order to make changes. Our overall aim is to promote social inclusion among young people in order to become European citizens who are aware of social issues and ready to take action for the sake of change, to share, explore and practice innovative ways to promote tolerance and acceptance and to express their points of view. Apart from our overall aim we improved mainly the following 5 competences: - Social and civic competence; - Communication in foreign languages; - Digital competence; - Cultural awareness and expression; - The sense of initiatives and entrepreneurship; There were 24 participants, 4 young people and 1 group leader, from 5 countries (Italy, Portugal, Romania, Turkey and Hungary) delegated by 5 organisation: EquaMente - Associazione Culturale e di Solidarietà, ConnectART- Associação Cultural Juvenil, Asociatia Support for Youth Developement, Karasu Genclik, Sanat ve Spor Kulubu Dernegi and Motiváció Oktatási Egyesület. During the preparation of the project it seemed that 10 of the participants are facing social obstacles and educational difficulties, in the end there were 7 of them. Non – formal learning happened during the whole exchange programme. Youthpass learning process was integrated into the programme elements continuously. We considered the social and personal development of young people within the project. We used the following methods during the project: - Cooperative techniques; - Training methods; - Journaling; - Discussion; - Situational games; - Roleplaying; - Text composing; - Presentation. Despite of the prliminary plans, roleplaying and text composing became less important during the project, because we responded to the actual needs of the participants and considered the time frame that we had. There were several activities which were in the programme every day like the evaluation of the day using journaling and the post it flower exercise, the group leaders meeting and the national evenings. On the first day we got to know each other. On the next two days we built a team from the participants with groupbuilding activities and then participants had the opportunity to learn more about discrimination, minorities, poverty during a sensitizing training, they explored social inclusion, minorities, poverty and discrimination in the participant countries and they heard about segregation, it’s disadvantages, and about good practices to fight against it. We planned to visit the former Móra Ferenc Primary School, but the weather was really hot that day (over 40 degrees) so responding again to the needs of participants, we stayed inside and the teams made presentation about segregation, desegregation and integration. On the following days of the project they were able to use the knowledge they had gained during these activities to plan, design and create paintings that promote social inclusion, to design the logo of the exchange that can express the importance of social inclusion, to express their points of view by designing badges and T-shirt decorations, to plan, prepare, promote and realize an exhibition of the paintings and other exhibits they made during the exchange. As an impact of the exchange participants became more aware of the importance of social inclusion, they understand people with disadvantaged backgrounds better, they became more sensitive to problems that come from poverty and minority. They shared and practiced new techniques and ways (painting and drawing techniques, badge making, T-shirt decoration) to express their points of view. The participating organisations can use and share these creative communication techniques in their future projects.
