The project contributes to reduction of structural unemployment in the cross-border area by offering unemployed people access to courses for obtaining a qualification recognized at the national and European level. Furthermore, within the project, a common website and newspaper for job search are created that would enable a cross-border mobilization of workforce. On the one hand, Mehkerek faces the biggest number of unemployed people between the two partners that generates high costs for local government and has severe social and economic consequences. The closest economically developed cities are Sarkad and Békéscsaba. Madaras Commune, on the other hand, has lower number of unemployed that have no qualification, and has a bigger economic potential for local workforce and Hungarians on the search for jobs. There are two big Hungarian production companies that invested in Madaras in 2010 and plan to employ over 1000 people with specific qualifications. The project trains the unemployed young people from both communes in the spheres of activity that companies in Madaras and around Mehkerek want to employ, but not only. The general objective of the project is to reduce structural unemployment in the border region. The direct beneficiaries of the project are the young unemployed people with minimum compulsory education from Madaras and Mehkerek, between 18 and 35 years old. Given the fact that in Mehkerek the only economic activity is related to agriculture, there are 130 unemployed people. Most of them have no qualification. Out of the 130 people, 50 people are young and have the minimum compulsory education and therefore are considered part of the project target group (30 women, 20 men). In Madaras there are around 70 unemployed that do not have the needed qualifications or have no qualification at all to find a job. Among them, 45 people fit the target groups profile (20 men and 25 women). In Madaras there are two big Hungarian companies that seek to employ over 1000 people, not mentioning the other opportunities in Salonta, Oradea and Békéscsaba. The courses were designed to address the market need and favour their employment. The main specific activities of the project are: organization of trainings and courses; creation of website and newspaper.Among project results: 200 people trained, 1 common website for news and job offering, 1 common newspaper.
