COOPERAZIONE DELLE RETI ECOLOGICHE NEL MEDITERRANEO (Co.R.E.M.)

The project's theme is the projection of the global issues of ecological network, in view of a synergistic sharing of intent to cross-border, cross-sector, cross-cultural and social. The overall project objective is to enhance the natural heritage and biodiversity in particular regions of the Mediterranean, through: • Reduction of human pressure and threats on the unique and rare habitats and sites that have a greater wealth of habitats; • Strengthening connections between the fields of public administration through improved management, greater integration of policies and planning tools, evaluation of the effectiveness of existing management tools; • Strengthening the role of enterprises for sustainable development, by promoting opportunities for sustainable development, information management to integrate human activities and nature protection, discouraging business impact; • Strengthening participation and citizen involvement. Recipients of the project are both parties, public and private, involved in the management of the areas, the community is appropriately informed and sensitized on the issues of interest. The main activities are summarized in: interventions aimed at recovery and protection of compromised sites, identification and exchange of good practices, empowerment of the people involved in management, awareness and information on a collective level. Expected Results:  Creation of a cross-border ecological network, expansion and consolidation of the individual local networks  Improvement of habitats and species are currently under severe pressure  Improvement of accessibility and usability of the areas of cross-border ecological network, even from an equal opportunities  Improvement of sensitive environmental resources (in particular, wetlands, rivers and coastal areas) are currently subject to considerable pressure levels  Networking best practices in integrated management of sensitive areas  Good dissemination of guidelines for the sector, also thanks to the Observatory  Involvement of tourism operators and their awareness of the sensitivity of the areas affected by the project  Increasing awareness by the authorities of the affordability of the planned management of environmentally sustainable tourism  Greater integration of the theme of ecological network in the process of Agenda 21 and, in general, in the planning and management of coastal ecosystems with a strong human presence  Testing best practices borrowed from trade with partners  Dissemination of information materials and achieving a good level of awareness
