Cooperation in Education: Environmental-Hydraulics Field Training Reach on the Danube River (DANUBE-EHT-2010)
Date du début: 30 juin 2010, Date de fin: 30 oct. 2011 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The project aims to create close cooperation between the partners in the education of environmental hydraulics and water resources (students and teachers). Partners propose to establish common environmental-hydraulics field training reach on the Danube River in the border area between Hungary ( Mohacs) and Serbia (Bezdan), to introduce multidisciplinary team-work approach, through latest advancements in field data collection techniques of water quality (sediment data, data on temperature, dissolved oxygen, and selected chemical-biological constituents, 1-, 2-, and 3-D mathematical modeling techniques for flow and transport process in natural waters). Improved curricula in the area of environmental hydraulics and water resources in both institutions, hands-in experience in latest techniques of data collection and mathematical modeling, established 1-, 2-, and 3-D models for the reach, and comprehensive database for models’ calibration and verification. The Danube River reach will be kept as continuous common training and research center for both EJF and GFS teachers and students. Achievements: The results are: (1) training in latest field data collection and data processing techniques for both teachers and students; (2) comprehensive and accurate data sets including flow characteristics, sediment and morphology data, data on selected chemical and biological constituents, etc.; (3) establishment of 1-, 2-, and 3-D mathematical models for simulation of flow and transport processes; (4) training in model calibration, verification, and application. Durability of results is provided by project objective to keep the selected Danube River reach as continuous common training and research center for both EJF and GFS teachers and students. Benefit of the project is that improved curricula and level of education in the area of environmental hydraulics at both EJF and GFS and better quality of young engineers working in water management and environmental institutions in the area and in both countries in general.
