Cooperación y dinamización para mejorar la enseñanza de lenguas a adultos en Europa
Date du début: 1 sept. 2016, Date de fin: 31 août 2018 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The School of Languages of Santiago de Compostela has become a referent in terms of adult language education in Galicia due to its active participation in educational programs and its continuous commitment to excellence. As a public service provider, the school has been offering adult language instruction and certification since 2001 in the seven languages taught in Santiago and its 5 satellite schools. Accordingly, this application is being presented under the auspices of the Erasmus+ program with the firm aim of continuing our pursuit of innovation and quality education by providing the teaching staff with professional development opportunities that bring us into contact with other institutions and education experts throughout Europe. In addition, in recent years the school has specialised in providing language instruction to an ever-increasing group of education professionals who wish to impart their subjects in a foreign language in line with the new policies of plurilingualism. The potential impact, therefore, of this project is exponential since we will be transmitting the newly-acquired skills to other professionals who will in turn pass on this knowledge at their schools. The main aim of this current project is to provide specialized training for our teachers in the latest teaching and assessment theories and methodologies as a guarantee of best practices and educational quality. As a complement to this principal goal, we also must add the school’s desire to increase its presence in international forums and establish lasting partnerships, especially at the European level, a path that was established years ago and set out as a long term goal. It is precisely for this reason that the EOI Santiago de Compostela has become an example for institutions who seek similar aims. It is our hope that we will continue to be so through initiatives such as this. The activities that will be carried out in order to achieve our proposed aims are the following: structured courses, conferences, and job shadowing. We believe these activity types best fit the needs and demands of the teaching staff. Furthermore, several thematic areas will serve as a coherent framework for the activities proposed in line with our Training Plan: innovative methodologies, the implementation of ICT in the classroom, assessment and certification, and quality management in education. Participation in the project is open to all language teachers of the EOI de Santiago and associated satellite schools. Candidates will be selected according to the objective and straightforward criteria stipulated in this form, giving priority to individuals who are committed to the long-term benefits of the program and show the skills and experience needed to carry out the action. The selection process will be transparent and guarantee equal opportunities to all teachers who wish to participate and a team of 7 representatives chosen from the school community will be in charge of assessing and approving the applications submitted. Once the applications have been approved, candidates will be required to make preparations for their activity and communicate these plans both to the home and host institutions in order to guarantee the security and well-being of the candidate as well as insuring the successful development of the activity. Participants will also be expected to read and prepare any bibliography suggested for the activity. In the case of job shadowing activities, preparatory meetings will be vital to the organization of the stay.During the visit, candidates are expected to participate actively and professionally as representatives of our school. The EOI of Santiago will also maintain contact with the host institutions to monitor the correct development of the activities. We will employ both autonomic and European certification and validation instruments in order to recognize the participation and skills acquired by the participants in said activities.A series of actions will be carried out during the whole process in order to make our project known at a local, national and international level and increase its potential impact. Upon completion of the activity, results of the events will be spread through the materials obtained, seminars, courses, presentations, reports, press releases, and dissemination through digital media and social networks. As mentioned, we expect far-reaching short and long-term results from the project. Our staff’s mobility will have a direct impact on our schools’ classroom instruction, assessment and certification procedures, and management skills. As teacher trainers, those skills will find their way into other classrooms as well. As a final note, in the long-term, this project aims to foster plurilingualism and cooperation among European citizens, as well as a respect for and awareness of Europe’s linguistic and cultural diversity.
