COOLINARY EXCHANGE

The project "Coolinary Exchange", included in the Key Action 1 Youth Exchange, was born from a partnership between five European countries: Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece and Belgium and intends to address the matter of nutrition and the propagation of organic products Km0 between young people. This project is the result of cohesion between young people of the Municipality of Belmonte Mezzagno and young people of the City of Balestrate in synergy with four European partners. Balestrate, an Italian municipality of 6,650 inhabitants in the province of Palermo and equidistant (about 50 miles) from Palermo and Trapani, is a small seaside town which, thanks to the summer tourism is able to reach a peak of more than 30,000 residents while during the other months depopulated, hosting only a few elderly and young people who cannot find interesting activities to their cultural, social and physical growth. We intend to realize this project involved the entire community, with the aim of diffusion in the habit of healthy eating and regular physical activity. Nutrition education for young people is an asset not only educational, but also preventive, especially when food choices are initiated to implement free and out of the control of the family. It 'also important, try to develop, with the right information, a proper culture of "taste" in order to contrast the approval process of the law burger and the snack between young people. The selected participants, in agreement with the partners, will be young people with familiar and economical difficulties from areas far from the center of the city, from different cultures and social conditions in order to create a network between the participating countries and make them feeling young and active protagonists in the project. The expected number of participants is 30 young people: for each partner 5 participants (18-30 years) + 1 team leader (no age limit); the visit will last 10 days, including two days for the round and return trip. The methodologies in this project will be non-formal and informal, structured initially in icebreaking activities, for promoting the meeting among the various participants in order to create a comparison between them. Then we will enter into the heart of the project with days dedicated to laboratories workshop with international cuisine and traditional activities on the kitchen "Mediterranea". Other days, within the structure that will host us, will be dedicated to proper nutrition thanks to the lessons of a nutritionist who will be able to promote the development of food consciousness aimed at achieving harmony with the food and lifestyle healthier. We expect a visit to the dairy of Balestrate where participants could assist at the process of turning milk into cheese and its various stages, ending with a tasting of typical products. Another day outdoors will be dedicated to an ecological walk in the Nature Reserve Bosco D'Alcamo, ideal environment for developing intercultural dialogue among the participants; young people also carry out the activities at the Adventure Park to find emotions and deal with others and/or themselves. Two days will be dedicated to finally visit to Balestrate and Palermo for discovering new cultures, traditions and places that have shaped the history of a country. A Palermo is also expected a visit to the organic garden where participants will be involved in agricultural activities. The beneficiaries of the project, at the end of the path must have a basic knowledge of the proper and healthy diet, rediscovering the importance of organic products and healthy. Moreover, an important objective is the acquisition of the attitude to cultural exchanges. You will acquire the concept that the physical and mental comfort contributes not only to encourage an healthy lifestyle but represents a particularly important element for socialization, inclusion and integration that overcomes social barriers, ethnic and culture. The aims to achieve are therefore fortification and dissemination of best practices in order to promote physical activity for people of all ages, encouraging a proper and balanced diet, prevent and curb smoking, prevent and fight against alcohol abuse, encourage the adoption of healthy eating habits and motor skills, promoting sports and an healthy lifestyle, contrast a sedentary lifestyle.
