Date du début: 1 sept. 2014, Date de fin: 31 août 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The project IPE aims to expose students and other groups to the study of international political economy with a specific focus on contextualizing Europe. It has three major components: 1. a course designed for mainly undergraduate students; 2. a workshop designed for graduate students and faculty; 3. a seminar series geared towards general public and specialized NGOs. 1. This course aims to introduce students to major theoretical and empirical issues in the field of international political economy (IPE). Exploring the emergence and evolution of global interdependence starting from the mid-20th century, it will analyze the dual processes of globalization and regionalization from the post-war years onwards. The course will focus on several issue areas including international trade, monetary system, production networks and development and analyze the respective roles of international and regional organizations in shaping the global economy as they are also shaped by it. As a teaching source for the course and as a service to the broader scholarly community of European studies and political economy, a database will be prepared. This database, which will include all major studies undertaken in the field of IPE, particularly regarding the political economy of globalization and regionalization, will be made available for the use of students, faculty from Sabancı and other universities in order to disseminate knowledge. 2. The workshop will provide the graduate students and faculty (especially juniors) with the opportunity to present their own research on varying issues in IPE. It will facilitate a productive space for discussion between graduate students from SU and other universities in and around Istanbul as well as scholars who will be invited as discussants and chairs. 3. The seminar series will host established scholars in the respective fields generating an exposure to new ideas about regionalization, globalization in the context of the IPE .
